The problem with nostalgia message boards

I've gone to various nostalgia message boards that talk about different past eras. Some may talk about the 80s while others will cover the 50s to the 90s. It's nice that they attempt to preserve these eras. However, the problem with all the ones that I've been to is that they have been way too influenced by the politically-correct views of today.

For example, I remember the 80s as a decade full of wholesome entertainment, and where true freedom of speech truly existed. However, when I go to these nostalgia message boards, I see moderators/administrators with all their left-wing garbage and limited freedom of speech. It is my belief that a nostalgia message board should reflect as much as possible, the era that they represent. For example, Archie Bunker and George Jefferson were able to speak their minds, but I can't do that on their message boards. However, I was able to speak my mind during the decades that these message boards supposedly represent.

Another thing is nostalgia message boards need to be more Christian friendly. I'm not saying that you have to have a Bible study, but you have to remember that a lot of Christians will come to a nostalgia message board because they miss the good old days when Christianity was more accepted. So imagine the disappointment when they come to your nostalgia message and find the same politically-correct garbage that they sought to escape from?

If I were running a nostalgia message board, I would run it as if we were still back in the 80s without the politically-correct garbage of today; and that's the way it should be.

There was also a lot of trash at that time. Remember Night Court with Dan Fielding anything in a skirt? Same thing with Sam Malone in Cheers. Three's Company also had a lot of innuendo. There was plenty to criticize on TV in the 80's. Not that wholesome, although I'd say there was more then than there is now.

I think so too.

This is precisely why we need to redeem the culture.

Maybe we need a nostalgia boards (and other boards) that enforce decency. Or something like that.

I find the same thing: I can't go on a message board that is not pro-life/Christian related without feeling a little alienated.

There was lots of wholesome television. The Facts of Life and Different Strokes are two examples I can think of offhand. Some cartoons also had moral lessons at the end of each episode for the kids to learn from. That's something you don't see anymore.

It seems like the people who run these types of boards will go along with any bizarre trend, regardless of how morally wrong it is, as long as it's supported by society as a whole. For example, these same people who support "gay marriages" now would never have supported it back in the 70s and 80s. What radical changes in society that have yet to take place, will they end up supporting next? Incest marriages? Pedophilia? Only time will tell.

I often wonder why such people have any interest in running nostalgia boards in the first place, and why they want to go back to previous eras? They have changed so much, that even if it were possible to go back, they wouldn't fit in.

I am noticing the same thing. It seems as if these days, you have to be in a pro-life/Christian specific board, school, music station, etc., to get the respect that Christians deserve.
